Centerpieces: Highs and Lows

When it comes to choosing the centerpieces for your Anguilla wedding, you can be faced with an interesting dilemma: do you want high or low centerpieces? It's important when deciding the height of your table arrangements to take into account the flow of conversation for your guests. Nobody wants to be talking to Aunt Jane and have a big bouquet of flowers blocking her head, right? The general rule of thumb is to be under or over your diners' heads.

With the amount of weddings we have had the pleasure of decorating in Anguilla, we have advised our brides and event planners countless times on the subject of centerpieces.

We recommend going with classic low centerpieces which can be gorgeous elements to your tabe-scape. The flow of the low centerpiece is one of our favourites: your guests' eyes will travel down your reception tables with long, low centerpieces of repeating shapes and colours.  Our designers are always looking for new inspiration from rustic arrangements to tropical pops of colour!

The alternative is our other favourite: dramatic high centerpieces. We love creating statement making pieces which can leave your guests talking for months to come. When deciding whether or not to go with a high centerpiece, we often take into account the environment in which your reception will be held. Our favourite "high centerpiece areas" are spacious with high ceilings and little chance of Mother Nature creating a wind which could not be favourable to your higher centerpieces.

Whatever your choice, we are always happy to help! Our professional event designers, under the artistic tutelage of company owner and Lead Designer Lorin Richardson, are experts at making your reception conversation-friendly with an impact!

Tropical Twists

Getting married in the Caribbean doesn't always mean that you need to have a tropical-themed wedding reception, but sometimes the beachy venue just isn't enough. We have worked with many brides and planners who want to incorporate the tropical atmosphere in more than just the picturesque surroundings. We love bringing the West Indies to the table!

Anguilla's National Flower

We deal with a lot (and we do mean A LOT) of flowers being in the business of weddings and events. Many times we have been asked by inquisitive clients about Anguilla's National Flower.

The White Cedar Flower can be found all over Anguilla on trees which can grow up to 20' feet in height. With frequent water, the cedar tree will produce many of these lovely blooms. Anguilla, however, is often known as a very dry island so this is not often the case. If you are lucky enough to see a cedar tree in full bloom while visiting us, be sure to snap a shot for your memory book!

Often times we are asked by brides to include some of Anguilla's local flora in their wedding bouquets. The White Cedar Flower, however beautiful it may be, is a very delicate blossom and will not stand up to the job of a bouquet flower.

Picture Perfect

If you're having an amazing Anguilla wedding it's only natural that you would want to immortalize the moment in a keepsake photo album. Of course you also need fabulous photos to show your friends and loved ones back home who weren't able to take the vacation of a lifetime to Anguilla. If you're worried about whether or not Anguilla has the proper photographer for your needs, don't!

There is absolutely no need to bring in outside help.

The island of Anguilla is home to some very talented photographers. We have had the pleasure of working alongside some of the best and we put our Black Orchid Seal of Approval on the work of these associates:

  • With over 40 years of experience behind the lens, talented artist Susan Croft (Susan Croft Photography) is one of the island's top requested photographers. Quoting from her website, she sees herself as a "photographer's photographer" and prides herself on not using Photoshop on any of her images. "What you see is what I shoot."

  • A master at capturing the perfect image, Derrys Richardson (Signature 7602 Studios), is also an excellent choice for documenting your special day. Taken from his website bio, we agree with Derrys when he says that "with each click of the shutter, I use it as an opportunity to look deep into the soul of my subject, capturing their emotion and telling their story." We love the vibrant colours and emotions evoked in Derrys' photographs which are displayed in gorgeous custom photobooks for the happy bride and groom.

  • Rocklyn Maynard also offers a selection of photography and videography services. Rocklyn and the team at Professional Photos and R&R Productions specialize in supplying you with a perfect play-by-play of your wedding day. We have also had the pleasure of working alongside them on several music video productions.
  • Keiroy Browne of Keiroy Browne Photography  takes thought provoking images which give vivid details of your favourite moments. We especially love the connection between the subject and the camera in many of his images. With fun posing ideas and creative locations, Keiroy is an excellent choice for documenting your wedding day from start to finish.

Worry no longer! And if you need any more suggestions, we are here to help!
